I am knackered!
We are having a new kitchen installed, y’see, and by “having it installed”, I actually mean that we are doing it ourselves. Well, most of it.
I’ve mentioned before that the children’s TV character, Bob The Builder, was based on my dad (probably).
A short while a go, this conversation took place:
Me: We are thinking of getting a new kitchen. We’re going to completely gut the old one and fit new everything. Including a new ceiling. Should I get someone in to do it or can we do it ourselves? What do you think… can we do it?
Dad: yes, we can.
And so this weekend, in a flurry of hammers and crowbars and clouds of dust, the ceiling was brought down. Tiles were cold chiselled off the walls – what I thought would be a quick and easy job, turned into one of the most arduous… what do they stick those things on with?!
New cabling has been installed for the lights and sockets and the new ceiling has gone up. Trust-A-Trader has been scoured for a bish-bosh plasterer.
Radiators have been removed and associated plumbing rerouted.
Approximately three gallons of tea has been drunk.
It’s been a productive weekend, but I’m looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
I need a rest.
