Some years back, I switched from an un-metered water supply to one with a meter. It was a damn good move, as my water bill immediately went to less than half and even despite the recent price hikes has remained at only half of what I used to pay.
But with the recent hot weather burning us all to a cinder, Mrs M decided we should set up the kid’s paddling pool.
I say “paddling pool” but it’s actually a bit bigger than that. It holds over 1100 gallons of water and can be seen on Google Earth!
It took us eight hours to fill it with the garden hose.
The other day, I saw the man from the water company come round and read the meter.
The bill hasn’t arrived yet.
I think they must have sent out for a bigger calculator.
