The kids got their interim school reports yesterday.
They both got reasonably good grades.
I think.
I say that, because I couldn’t really understand them. When I was at school, you just got marked D,C,B and A for each subject, depending on how well you did in your tests and exams, and then a comment from the teacher to say whether you were a good little boy or a right little shit.
Now, they have Attainment Grades, Achievement Grades and Values & Attitudes/General Progress Grades. All that, and they’re only 8 and 9 year-old kids!
I looked through their reports and was utterly confused by it all. There are 3A’s here and 2B’s there and 4C’s here. I don’t know which is the higher and which is the lower mark. Mrs M tried to explain it to me, but I started to glaze over. And I’m not sure she really understood it, either.
One thing that did make me laugh though, is that they both got O (Outstanding) for “Preparation”, ie. always having the correct books and PE kit, etc with them.
That “O” belies the fact that on a Monday morning I can be seen running frantically around the house trying to find mislaid training shoes and shorts and reading and homework books, as they sit watching bloody Spongebob bloody Squarepants whilst they eat their Coco Pops.
I suppose I should be putting the onus on them to sort their kit out, really.
A1 for effort, Mr Masher. D5 for common sense.

Blimey, it has all gone complicated! And you, young Masher? D,C,B and A? I had several Fs (not that sort!), and a large number of DNTUs (Did Not Turn Up).
I was told that we had Fs, Bren, but I never saw one.
Though I’m sure I got a FFS once.
