Death

My next door neighbour died this morning.

He’d been ill for a long time and over the past year, there has been a constant stream of carers - and every so often, an ambulance - parked outside the house.  This morning was no different, except that this time, rather than a wheelchair, he was stretchered out on a gurney with a sheet over him.  So sad.

We’d never socialised much, but whenever we did bump into each other and have a chat, I always found him to be nothing less than a thoroughly nice bloke.  Younger than me and with two children (thankfully, grown-up), he didn’t deserve this.

I truly hope his passing was a peaceful one.

“Death”

  1. Graham W Says:

We are going to be in a similar situation with our next door neighbour soon; she was diagnosed with liver cancer a couple of weeks ago. Doctors have only given her months to live.

It can be a cruel world we live in.

  2. Annie (Lady M) x Says:

Awww… that is really sad. I hope he wasn’t on his own.

  3. Brennig Says:

When my mate Ali died recently I was devastated, even though she was diagnosed with terminal cancer five years ago. At the time they gave her six months to live. That she beat the experts by four and a half years is a truly lovely part of her character. It’s her memorial service on Friday.

  4. Masher Says:

I saw Ali hadn’t posted in a while, but just assumed she was too ill to write.

Very sad. She faced her illness with stoic determination, it seemed… and with some good humour too.
