Hi honey, I’m home… again

Show you my white bits?
Well, they’d be the bits that aren’t swollen red and sore by the sodding Turkish mosquitoes then!
Only once, in all my holiday travels, have I had worse mozzie bites than what I’ve received in this last week… and that was in the jungle - where you’d bloody expect it. They even [...]

Outta here… again

Any road up, all this learning stuff has been pretty exhausting, and so - at the risk of incurring the wrath of someone in Iowa - it’s time to go on holiday, methinks.
As such, by this time tomorrow, we will be soaking up the warm sunshine of Turkey lurkey.
I’m not exactly sure of where we [...]

I love…

… stuff like this.
49 - why doesn’t that surprise me?
73 - aww.
89 - just brilliant.
One of my favourite “coffee table” books is Schott’s Original Miscellany, which is full of likewise trivia. If, like me, you are banal enough to enjoy such listings, then you’ll love Schott. Put it on your Christmas list.

I’ve got a headache

“OK chaps, we’ll go through your sample papers now. As I said earlier, try to keep your answers short, concise and to the point. The exam lasts two and a half hours and - trust me - that’ll fly by.

This has caused several issues:
1. The track details were automatically downloaded from the Internet (Gracenote, usually) and [...]

Angst

“If you’d please wait here, Sir. This shouldn’t take too long.”
I watched him wheel her out of sight, round the corner, and then I found a seat in the bleak, austere ante-room and waited nervously.
My hands were sweating and it wasn’t long before I found myself pacing up and down, as terrible thoughts flooded into [...]

Begging for it

Catching the train from London Bridge today, a young fella boarded just after me. He was rather unkempt, with a large rucksack upon his back, and he dragged along with him a scruffy black dog. We all settled into our seats whilst Boy and his dog stood in the aisle.
As the train pulled out of [...]

Lost

You know when you put something down… and five minutes later you can’t find it, even though you are 100% sure you know that you put it there?
That happened to me earlier today with my torch. I found it later… in a completely different place, obviously.
But it reminded me of the time some years [...]
